Jessica Biel, devastated by Nailed

"But Nailed, co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Catherine Keener, Tracy Morgan and James Marsden, turned into a nightmare for Biel. Instead of making a splash playing a woman whose personality changes toward the "outrageous" after she is shot in the head with a nail, the film was shut down repeatedly due to the collapse in its financing.

Thrown into turmoil last year, the film has yet to be finished.
"That was definitely an experience, something I could NOT say no to," Biel told me in an interview. "I am a huge David O. Russell fan. It’s just heartbreaking that so many people put so much work into this particular project only to have it sit there, unfinished. But it’s one of those things where we had no idea it would have happened.

"If I’d had an idea that it might happen, would I still have done it? I don’t know. Probably. I had an incredible experience with David and the rest of the cast. It made me a better actor. For all that, I’m devastated that it’s not finished and who knows when it will be and will come out. I still have my fingers crossed that something good will come of it, that it will be finished."

Biel has had a run of such bad luck lately. She may be a sure thing in an Adam Sandler comedy (I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry) but her stripper drama, Powder Blue, went straight to video.
She's trying to keep her sense of humor about the bad luck. When I suggest that maybe, to stir up new financing interest to finish Nailed, she and David O. Russell could stage one of his infamous tantrums for a viral video, she giggles (James Caan quit Nailed over a Russell run-in). "You know, that might work!"

Remakes and videogames movies

"Videogames have risen to a level of popularity that could never have been imagined in the days of Atari. With their highly detailed graphics and elaborate storylines, these games are full-length feature films that happen to come with instruction manuals. It’s not such a leap to see that popular videogame franchises like Halo, EverQuest, Prince of Persia (starring the yummy Jake Gyllenhaal), and Splinter Cell are going to show up on the big screen in the years to come".

Reactions to nude scenes

"Jake Gyllenhaal was initially considered for the role of Matthew but turned it down because of the explicit nature of the nude scenes.Leonardo DiCaprio was offered the role of Matthew, but turned it down because he was in pre-production with The Aviator (2004).
Director Bernardo Bertolucci was so impressed how the actors so naturally acted naked, he penned an uncredited lengthy extra scene in the script where all three main actors are overtly nude. It ended up on the cutting room floor".

"I read that you were really nervous about filming the nude scenes and the explicit scenes, how did you prepare yourself for those? [Laughs] I had so many ridiculous answers just come into my head [more laughs]. I had a penis implant! I don’t know, I just kind of, it’s funny because Spanish people are so … have no problem with nudity at all, I mean at all, and English people obviously do have, like, the most enormous problem with it. It’s like little things, like when I saw my father getting changed for swimming I got, like, traumatized by it … I don’t really know what I did, I just kind of freaked out a bit. Kristen Stewart is going to be playing rock icon Joan Jett. Is there a rock icon that you'd like to play?

I'd love to play Van Morrison, but I doubt I would get the part [laughs].
What has been your craziest fan experience? There was one quite weird thing, I was in a Blockbuster the other day, and I hadn’t realized it was the day the ['Twilight'] DVD was coming out, and there were these two — no one recognized me in that place — and there were these two 8-year-old girls who turned up with their parents. They were picking up their preordered DVDs, and they were just shaking and crying just because they got their DVD. How’s the energy on ‘New Moon’ compared to ‘Twilight,’ because for ‘Twilight’ no one was sure if it was going to do well and now, obviously … Yeah, it’s scary. It’s a very, very different experience. Last time we were just kind of … it was so easy to get the entire cast together. We’d all have dinner almost every day and be able to talk about it freely and stuff. Now it’s quite difficult to even leave the hotel. And all these random little stories become someway, somehow newsworthy, so you have to be very secretive about everything.

"Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have done steamy onscreen sex scenes together before, but for their upcoming film Revolutionary Road, they had to pair up in front of Winslet's director-husband, Sam Mendes. "I had a total meltdown," Winslet said at New York City's Times Center on Monday. "Sam was there lining the scene up. I'd get things like, 'Press your hands into his back! No, his back!' You just have to deal with it. Leo was remarkably fine with the whole thing."

"Mr. Anderson may have a hook: The short co-stars Natalie Portman, who appears in an extended nude scene -- but whose character makes just a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in "The Darjeeling Limited." If that seems like a Hollywood bait and switch, Mr. Anderson says it wasn't intended that way. The use of "Hotel Chevalier" as a promotional tool, he says, is an attempt to put one of his creative works to use and stir up intrigue around the main movie. As for choosing to release the short separately from the feature, he says, "I don't know if it's a wildly commercial idea, and it is probably a little confusing to people who are thinking, 'Why is this separate from the movie?' But the short is just as important to me as the feature is." Ms. Portman, for her part, says she was insistent that neither her name nor image be used in mainstream marketing for "The Darjeeling Limited."

"Tetro" trailer

The film, while fictional, is said to have had its origins from memories and emotions of Coppola’s early life. It stars Vincent Gallo and newcomer Alden Ehrenreich, whom I can tell you reminds me of a Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Pitt and Emile Hirsch all wrapped in one. Truly, Ehrenreich was fantastic in this pic. The story centers on the bittersweet reunion of two brothers and the secrets surrounding their relationship.

Tetro is set to hit theaters on June 11. Source: www.ropeofsilicon.com

Kristen Stewart - 'New Moon' Theater set

Last day of filming at New Moon theater set. Kristen stopped as she was leaving in the early morning (which you hear her say) to talk to fans who had been waiting all night to catch a glimpse of the stars. Robert Pattinson, Anna Kendrick (Jessica) were also there. We asked about the "Jett Movie" meaning the Joan Jett biopic 'The Runaways' she's about to start filming after she wraps 'New Moon' in Vancouver & Italy later this month. Thanks for being so great to your fans Kristen!

Reese talks about motherhood

"Reese Witherspoon admits she found motherhood lonely. The Legally Blonde star – who gave birth to daughter Ava with then-husband Ryan Phillippe in 1999 — says she struggled to adapt to her new role as a parent, as she had no money and was never able to go out.Reese — who is currently dating actor Jake Gyllenhaal – says she found “salvation” with a group of female friends and is grateful for the support they provide her.

“That’s always been the center of my life, female friendship,” she said. “I value the shared human experience, when women are honest with each other. It’s hard having kids. It’s hard having a job. It’s hard having a relationship - for anybody.”
